A Parabolic-hyperbolic Free Boundary Problem Modeling Tumor Growth with Drug Application
نویسنده
چکیده
In this article, we study a free boundary problem modeling the growth of tumors with drug application. The model consists of two nonlinear second-order parabolic equations describing the diffusion of nutrient and drug concentration, and three nonlinear first-order hyperbolic equations describing the evolution of proliferative cells, quiescent cells and dead cells. We deal with the radially symmetric case of this free boundary problem, and prove that it has a unique global solution. The proof is based on the Lp theory of parabolic equations, the characteristic theory of hyperbolic equations and the Banach fixed point theorem.

Modeling sorption of emerging contaminants in biofilms
A mathematical model for emerging contaminants sorption in multispecies biofilms, based on a continuum approach and mass conservation principles is presented. Diffusion of contaminants within the biofilm is described using a diffusion-reaction equation. Binding sites formation and occupation are modeled by two systems of hyperbolic partial differential equations are mutually connected through t...

We prove the (local) existence of a unique mild solution to a nonlinear moving-boundary problem of a mixed hyperbolic-degenerate parabolic type arising in modeling blood flow through compliant (viscoelastic) arteries.
متن کاملParameter determination in a parabolic inverse problem in general dimensions
It is well known that the parabolic partial differential equations in two or more space dimensions with overspecified boundary data, feature in the mathematical modeling of many phenomena. In this article, an inverse problem of determining an unknown time-dependent source term of a parabolic equation in general dimensions is considered. Employing some transformations, we change the inverse prob...
متن کاملStability of equilibria in an elliptic-parabolic moving boundary problem
We discuss a moving boundary problem modeling tumor growth in in vitro tissue cultures. It is shown that the unique flat steady state solution is exponentially stable with respect to general (sufficiently smooth) perturbations. Furthermore, it is also shown that any solution to the problem becomes instantaneously real analytic in space and in time.
متن کاملA Note on the Nonlocal Boundary Value Problem for Hyperbolic-parabolic Differential Equations
The nonlocal boundary value problem d 2 u(t) dt 2 + Au(t) = f (t)(0 ≤ t ≤ 1), du(t) dt + Au(t) = g(t)(−1 ≤ t ≤ 0), u(−1) = αu (µ) + βu (λ) + ϕ, |α|, |β| ≤ 1, 0 < µ, λ ≤ 1 for differential equation in a Hilbert space H with the self-adjoint positive definite operator A is considered. The stability estimates for the solution of this problem are established. In applications, the stab...
